Equans France is renovating two key boiler rooms in the Strasbourg Centre Energies district heating network
An ambitious project to renovate two emblematic boiler plants to guarantee reliable, sustainable, high-performance service for users of the Strasbourg Centre Energies district heating network, led by Réseau de Chaleur Urbain d'Alsace with ERAS, an Equans France entity with expertise in sustainable engineering and project management.
A key mission to ensure the reliability and modernization of the district heating network
The project is part of a strategic renovation of two boiler plants located in Strasbourg, La Meinau and l'Esplanade, with the main objectives of renovating the facilities, reusing waste heat from the Port Autonome de Strasbourg's heat network and ensuring a reliable supply of heat to users.
Managed by ERAS, a specialist in sustainable engineering, the mission covers all the engineering and project management phases, guaranteeing detailed studies of all the technical expertise involved in the project, the drafting of tender documents and rigorous supervision of the execution of the works, carried out by partner companies for all the project's technical work packages, to guarantee proper execution of the works through to assistance with acceptance.
The main objectives and constraints that ERAS had to take into account during the project were :
-
Carrying out work on an occupied site
-
Improve service reliability, particularly during winter periods,
-
Facilitate technical interventions in the event of incidents,
-
Minimize the impact of temporary outages on users.
Thanks in particular to a finer segmentation of the network, the project will improve service continuity and responsiveness.
A broad, innovative scope of technical intervention
The mission entrusted to ERAS encompasses several major aspects at both production sites:
-
At the Esplanade site, ERAS is overseeing the project management for the overall overhaul of the process, replacement of the main boilers, and creation of new interconnections with the low and high pressure networks.
The project also includes electrical upgrades and the implementation of an advanced supervision system for precise plant control.
-
At the La Meinau site, ERAS is the prime contractor for work involving the creation of new interconnections with the low- and high-pressure networks, an increase in the power of the generator set, the installation of new generators, as well as modifications to the thermal expansion, electrical distribution and ventilation infrastructures, reinforcing the overall robustness of the installations.
These interdisciplinary projects combine thermal processes, general installation, civil engineering, steel structures, instrumentation, automation, supervision, risk analysis and operability.
ERAS's global approach ensures that planning, operational and environmental requirements are met throughout the project, from engineering through to delivery.
Deployment over a three-year period is a concrete illustration of Equans France's commitment to the energy transition and the performance of urban infrastructures, at the service of local authorities and citizens.
And that's not all: through its new Equans Process Solutions brand, Equans France is also committed to supporting the industrial transition towards more sustainable growth.
