Les Compagnons des Énergies at Equans France
The Order of the Energy Companions: Excellence in the Field
Founded in November 2023 by Equans France, the Ordre des Compagnons des Énergies now brings together approximately 350 passionate men and women—workers and technicians—recognized for their professionalism, their hands-on expertise, and their desire to pass on their know-how.
This initiative builds on the tradition established in 1963 by Francis Bouygues, who created an order to honor the most deserving journeymen on construction sites and encourage the passing down of skills.
A symbol of excellence and belonging
The Order of the Compagnons des Énergies symbolizes excellence in craftsmanship, a culture of shared expertise and professional conduct, and a strong commitment to passing on this knowledge within Equans and the Bouygues Group.
This initiative embodies the operational excellence demonstrated by our teams, combining rigor, humility, and passion in the service of collective success.
The Order of the Energy Companions: Excellence in the Field
Today, 350 Compagnons are the driving force behind this community within Equans France. Electricians, HVAC technicians, electronics engineers, automation engineers… all of them are experts recognized by their peers, their managers, and the entire company.
Every day, the Compagnons embody the core values that guide Equans:
These values form the foundation of a rich and diverse culture unique to Equans' business lines.
A collective adventure driven by commitment
Throughout the year, the Compagnons groups come together around a variety of meaningful initiatives:
- Community service projects and sports activities
- Strengthening ties with schools
- Supporting construction sites in their transition toward decarbonization and digitalization
- Integrating new journeymen
- Promoting internal career mobility
This momentum, driven by the Compagnons, fosters pride, knowledge sharing, and commitment within Equans France.
The History of the Compagnonnage at Equans
The guild tradition is a long-standing value of the Bouygues Group. The Order of the Compagnons du Minorange, founded more than 60 years ago by Francis Bouygues, symbolizes a deep sense of pride:
“ Of all the things I have undertaken in my career as a builder, the Order of the Compagnons du Minorange is the initiative I consider the most successful and the one of which I am most proud. A deep and sincere friendship unites us. ” — Francis Bouygues, founder of the Bouygues Group
Following Equans’ integration into the Bouygues Group in 2023, Jérôme Stubler, CEO of Equans, sought to carry on this tradition by creating the Order of the Companions of Energy, starting in France.
