This project meets growing public transport needs. In 2024, nearly 150 million passengers used the SEMITAN network, which covers 24 communes and totals over 30.2 million kilometers traveled. To support this dynamic, CETEX brings together on a single site the functions essential to operating the network: a vast 12,000 m² maintenance workshop capable of simultaneously accommodating 16 tramway trains new generation, an operations building incorporating offices, training areas, drivers' rest areas, the network's emergency supervision center, as well as a service station dedicated to cleaning and sandblasting the trainsets, and a storage facility to store up to 60 new-generation trainsets in the dead of night.
Sustainable architecture integrated into its environment
Beyond its functionality, the site stands out for its sustainable architecture and landscape integration. The timber-framed workshop features a roof with a planted perimeter and is equipped with 2,200 m² of photovoltaic panels, contributing to the production of self-consumption renewable energy directly on site. This architectural choice reinforces the image of a site that is innovative, environmentally friendly and pleasant to live in for SEMITAN employees.
