Equans Process Solutions and Técnicas Reunidas join forces for Elyse Energy's eM-Rhône project
Equans France, via its Equans Process Solutions entity, announces its partnership with global engineering company Técnicas Reunidas to provide a joint EPC offer for the eM-Rhône project, developed by Elyse Energy on the Roches-Roussillon chemical platform (Isère). The eM-Rhône project aims to deploy an industrial infrastructure to produce 150,000 tonnes of e-methanol per year, and is currently in the advanced engineering phase (FEED).
Initiated by Técnicas Reunidas in September 2025, Equans Process Solutions is joining the preliminary studies to help manage the project and ensure its compliance with French standards. Técnicas Reunidas' expertise in large-scale projects is combined with that of Equans Process Solutions to design a buildable, maintainable and competitive industrial site.

As part of the FEED phase, Equans Process Solutions will be involved right from the design stage, integrating the construction and operating challenges of the industrial site. The aim is to take into account all Elyse Energy's needs and constraints, in order to propose a design that meets regulatory, industrial and environmental requirements, and that is sustainable and maintainable over time.
In addition, Equans Process Solutions will contribute to the identification of design optimizations aimed at improving economic performance and de-risking the project execution phase, drawing on its specific expertise in high-tech industries and its knowledge of the French market.
Técnicas Reunidas will bring its international engineering expertise to bear on structuring the engineering, ensuring the technical coherence of the package and consolidating the robustness of the offer.
This FEED phase is a decisive milestone: it transforms industrial ambition into a robust, realistic design that secures construction and operating conditions, makes cost and schedule assumptions more reliable, and strengthens the project's credibility with all stakeholders.
"Equans Process Solutions is proud to join forces with Técnicas Reunidas to support Elyse Energy in a key step towards industrial scale-up. Our know-how and expertise will contribute to the development of a tailor-made design upstream of the construction and operation of these future units in France. We're taking concrete action for sustainable engineering, and demonstrating the potential of e-fuels as gas pedals of the decarbonization of our economy", says Yves Nussbaum, Managing Director, Equans Process Solutions.
Following the FEED, Equans Process Solutions and Técnicas Reunidas intend to submit a joint EPC bid for the construction phase.
eM-Rhône, an e-methanol project serving the chemical and shipping industries
Located on the Roches-Roussillon chemical platform, managed by GIE OSRIS, the eM Rhône project, developed by Elyse Energy, aims to produce 150,000 tonnes of e-methanol a year, mainly for the chemical and shipping industries. eM-Rhône is part of a drive to reduce dependence on fossil fuels, with a view to energy sovereignty and reindustrialization, at a time when France remains heavily dependent on imported hydrocarbons.
Supported to the tune of 115 million euros by the European Innovation Fund and located on the Mediterranean-Rhône-Saône axis, the plant's complete development will require a total investment estimated at over 700 million euros, for which the final decision should be taken by the end of this year.
The project, which was also hailed at the latest Choose France summit, is one of Europe's most advanced initiatives in the field of industrial decarbonization.
