Equans France and Icam sign partnership to train talents for energy and digital transition
On June 18, Equans France and Icam formalized a national partnership at a signing ceremony on the Grand Paris Sud campus in Lieusaint (77). The agreement marks the joint commitment of a major player in the energy transition and a network of engineering and production schools to train the talents of tomorrow, throughout the country.
A strategic partnership to grow the energy sector and promote smart cities
Equans France continues to develop its network of academic partners with the signing of a national agreement with Icam. Deployed across all Icam campuses, this three-year partnership aims to strengthen collaboration between the worlds of higher education and business.
It includes, in particular, teaching interventions, participation in recruitment forums and high-profile events, the opportunity for students to take part in corporate projects as part of professionalizing modules, and privileged access to students for internships, work-study placements and recruitment.
This partnership is in line with Equans' desire to promote its businesses to young engineers and involve them in its major challenges: decarbonization, energy performance and digitalization - whether in factories, buildings or public spaces.
Icam's Paris-Sud campus is also in the immediate vicinity of the Equans Lab in Lieusaint, dedicated to the development of concrete solutions and applications for the smart city, on which students can be mobilized as part of their training.
Icam, an engineering school renowned for the quality of its training and its territorial coverage, and with nearly a hundred alumni already working for Equans France, has several campuses in France, each with its own teaching autonomy. This national partnership enables us to coordinate targeted actions tailored to local needs: a recruitment event at each site, a brand awareness event, as well as an annual 100% Equans event at one of the campuses. This on-the-ground proximity nurtures a lasting, mutually beneficial relationship between the company and future talent.
Focus: Icam's production school, a model of inclusion and performance
This new partnership follows on from an initial agreement signed in 2024 with Icam's production school, which trains young people aged 15 to 18, on the basis of real company orders and welcomed without selection, in highly employable technical trades. These establishments are based on an innovative teaching approach founded on "doing in order to learn": two-thirds of the time spent in workshops, responding to real company orders.
The Lieusaint production school, the first of its kind in the Paris region, fully embodies this model. Since its creation in 2021, it has achieved remarkable results: 75% CAP success rate, 100% hiring rate. It currently trains students in two industrial trades that are in short supply: machining and industrial electricity. These skills, rooted in the realities of the field, are directly aligned with Equans France's needs in the fields of industrial performance, technical maintenance and energy installations.
By joining the ecosystem of partner companies in 2024, Equans France is actively contributing to the employability of these young people, particularly via concrete educational orders.
“ Our recruitment needs are considerable: over 5,000 open-ended and work-study positions to be filled each year, of which 150 to 200 are for young engineers. But young people still need to know who we are! Equans is a young company - barely three years old - already a leader in its field, yet still little known to the general public. This partnership is a great way of introducing our business to students who are curious, practical, well-trained and who share our values. ”
“ I strongly believe in the production school model. I see it as a matter of course to train young people in difficulty using a "doing to learn" approach. It's also a collective responsibility: to offer a chance, a profession, a perspective. This partnership links meaning, technique and local commitment. ”
“ This partnership with Equans embodies our dual mission: to train engineers who are committed and rooted in industrial realities, while at the same time helping young people in difficulty find their way into promising careers. The trust placed in us by a major player like Equans is a strong signal: it underlines our humanist approach and the quality of our training programs on all our campuses. ”
