Portrait of Lucia, Industrial Works Engineer work-study student
What does your job involve?
"As assistant project manager for industrial works at Equans Process Solutions, I support my manager at every stage of the project, from the preparation phase through to execution monitoring, helping to steer and coordinate the people involved.
The biggest challenge for me is the human dimension: federating a variety of profiles, meeting diverse expectations and challenges, and managing multiple constraints. It's a very formative position!"
Why did you choose the industrial route?
"To be honest, I hadn't considered working in the industry. My father suggested this path, thinking it might suit me. I gave it a go out of curiosity... and I don't regret it!
Through my experiences, I discovered a world that was concrete, lively and of a very high standard. Contrary to popular belief, electrical engineering isn't just about changing light bulbs on industrial sites!"
What do you like about your job?
"What I like most of all is the variety: I move from the field to the office, from the technical to the relational, and every situation is a source of learning.
Working with different teams allows me to understand all our businesses within Equans Process Solutions and to learn from everyone's experiences.
The most gratifying thing is seeing the project come to life before my eyes. It's very motivating and above all impressive."
What message would you give to women who want to enter the industry?
"The industry is much more open than we think. Although the sector has long been male-dominated, mentalities have evolved and women now have a full place in it. You don't have to prove twice as much as a man: you just have to be yourself.
If some are hesitant, I simply advise them to try it out: internship, work-study or immersion. The industry is accessible to all, and you can have a great career in it."
