What is your background, and how did you end up at Equans France?
“After years working in a design office, I switched careers in 2021 to pursue a career in electrical engineering. I completed a work-study program with the Electra cohort at Bouygues Energies & Services. Today, I have a permanent contract with the Major Projects Electrical Systems team.”
Can you tell us more about the Electra program?
“It’s a work-study program designed for women seeking a career change and run in partnership with the Gustave Eiffel Center, which leads to the professional certification ‘building electrician.’ I learned about electricity alongside about ten women from diverse backgrounds.”
What is your job, and what are your responsibilities?
“I’m an electrician working on a data center construction site. My job is to make sure the electricity gets where it needs to go and that everything is up to code, safe, and visually tidy. In a data center, business continuity is essential, as are the safety and comfort of the site’s users.”
What do you like most about your job?
“I enjoy thinking things through, finding solutions, and creating an installation that works and looks good. What I like best is seeing the final result: you do something, and in the end, it works! To work in the energy and services sector, you have to enjoy working with your hands. Once you do, you can do anything. You just have to take the plunge—nothing is impossible.”
Are you very proud?
“This summer, I was inducted into the Ordre des Compagnons des Energies. It’s a source of great pride and an honor. I feel like I’m making a difference because we carry out charitable initiatives for nonprofit organizations and contribute to discussions on decarbonization and increasing the number of women in the industry. When it comes to the latter, I have a real role to play.”
