Toulouse metro line C: Equans at the heart of a major project
Work has begun on line C of the Toulouse metro, marking a new stage in the development of faster, smoother and more sustainable urban mobility. This major 27-kilometer project - 22 km of which will be in tunnel - will link the city's main economic hubs, directly serving more than 220,000 jobs. This operation, valued at €3.151 billion for line C and the Aéroport Express line, is a technical challenge to which Equans France, through its entities Axima Tunnel Ventilation Systems (Transport Division) and Ineo MPLR (BIS Division), is responding.
Tisséo Ingénierie's recognized expertise
Already long-standing partners of Tisséo Ingénierie since 2000 (notably on line B, the extension of line A and safety improvements to its tunnels), Equans teams are once again contributing their expertise to this strategic project. The consortium led by Eiffage Énergie Systèmes - Ventilation des Espaces Souterrains - includes :
- Axima Tunnel Ventilation Systems for design and installation of electromechanical smoke ventilation systems in the tunnel and stations
- Ineo MPLR for high and low voltage electrical work
These complementary areas of expertise enabled us to offer Tisséo an integrated, high-performance and uniform solution for the entire line.

A complex and demanding project
The construction of the tunnel and its technical equipment involves a number of challenges linked to the diversity of environments (rail, urban, ERP, underground), the coordination of several project managers and stringent regulatory requirements. The project also relies on the development and implementation of an innovative centralized control system at the PCC (Poste de Commande Centralisé) and in stations.
The project's success was also due to the determination of the Equans teams, who were able to innovate right from the time they responded to the call for tenders, to build a technically, environmentally and operationally sound proposal.
A strong commitment to a greener city
Over and above the technical challenges, this metro line is the first to be HQE certified, and Equans is fully in line with the energy and ecological transitionobjectives set by the local authorities in the Toulouse conurbation:
- reduced traffic congestion,
- pollution,
- improved interconnection with other modes of transport (bus, rail, LGV),
- improved quality of life for local residents.
Collective mobilization
The site will mobilize up to 130employeesat peak tisseo Ingénierie is committed to providing over 15,900 hours of work experience, in line with our corporate social responsibility policy.
With this latest success, Equans confirms its position as a benchmark player in major transport infrastructure projects, in the service of a more sustainable future.
