Smart Buildings: Enhancing User Comfort and Supporting the Energy Transition
Whether at the office, at home, at a hotel, in a store, a theater, a sports arena, a municipal building, or a healthcare facility, we expect perfect ventilation, ideal temperature, appropriate lighting, efficient and secure connectivity, an environmentally responsible setting, and guaranteed energy efficiency.
In infrastructure such as train stations, airports, logistics warehouses, or industrial sites, our expectations are the same. Wherever we are, we want buildings that are comfortable, connected, safe, sustainable, high-performing, and efficient—for both the people and the goods they accommodate. We want smart buildings!
New systemic complexity & diversity of expertise
Today, the construction industry accounts for nearly 30% of France’s carbon footprint. A building—and, even more so, an urban block, a neighborhood, or a city—forms a complex system in which numerous components interact.
The parameters that still govern the assessment of the quality of urban developments (commonly the carbon footprint) are limited to their construction and energy use, but very rarely take into account other equally important factors. For example: the mobility of future users, the ability of the structure to adapt its function, or its potential complementarity with other architectural structures that form coherent urban complexes, not to mention the social dimension, which encompasses not only access to housing but also quality of life and new uses. These indicators require specific expertise and techniques.
Far more than building materials, technical systems and energy are the main drivers of the low-carbon transition:

Support for Compliance with the BACS Decree
The law mandates that Building Automation and Control Systems (BACS), also known as Building Management Systems (BMS), be installed and maintained by January 1, 2025. All existing or new non-residential commercial buildings with an air conditioning or heating system with a rated capacity exceeding 290 kW are subject to this requirement.
A BMS connects and controls a building’s equipment (heating, ventilation, air conditioning, lighting, elevators, access control, etc.). This enables significant energy savings.
