Electrical Engineering: Working Toward the Modernization and Efficiency of Buildings
When we talk about electrical engineering, we’re referring to the wide range of expertise required to cover all its fields of application. Equans France, as a long-standing player in these fields, possesses a wealth of know-how that enables it to address numerous—and emerging—challenges, applications, and regulations.
The design, installation, and maintenance of smart buildings; the emergence of new forms of mobility; the ever-present need for networks and data; the search for high-performance solutions; and the rise of renewable energy—electrical engineering, from low-voltage to high-voltage systems, is the convergence point for the transitions to come.
At a time when system complexity and the climate emergency are on the rise, the Group supports projects of all sizes—small and large—drawing on its technical excellence, experience, and unique presence at the heart of local communities.
Toward more technologically advanced, more environmentally friendly, and more cost-effective buildings
Depending on the scenario, by 2030, 35 to 40 percent of energy consumption could be met by renewable energy sources. Wind, solar, and hydroelectric power are expected to play a dominant role in electricity generation by then. The need for building modernization and energy efficiency must be met with high-value-added solutions to manage intermittency and optimize energy production, distribution, and consumption. These objectives require the deployment of appropriate infrastructure and concrete solutions that Equans France is already implementing: heat pumps, LED lighting, decentralized and combined energy production, and carbon-free mini- and microgrid solutions.
Video overview of our business lines:
Covering the entire value chain—and beyond
Energy efficiency challenges—exacerbated by new regulatory measures—require technical excellence and the ability to innovate across the entire value chain. Whether it involves distributing and supplying electricity to buildings, providing infrastructure for digital communication services, or ensuring the comfort and safety of people and property, the Group works on behalf of its clients across a wide range of electrical engineering specialties.
In high-voltage systems, we support our clients:
- in energy production, transmission, and distribution infrastructure, with extensive expertise in the design and construction of high-voltage lines and substations;
- in building electrification, including power distribution panels and low-voltage distribution networks;
- in the installation of grid backup solutions, such as the deployment of generators;
- in the installation of electric vehicle charging infrastructure (EV charging stations), commonly known as charging points;
- in maintenance.
We have a long-standing expertise in lighting, both functional and decorative. We also hold specific certifications that attest to our ability to balance compliance with standards and operational performance, including the Qualifoudre certification for lightning protection.
In low-voltage systems, we provide installation and maintenance services for fire safety, intrusion detection, access control, video surveillance, VDI, building management systems (BMS), and home automation. Our solutions are complemented by specialized offerings in fields where we are recognized as key players, including audiovisual systems, fiber-optic networks, Wi-Fi, the Internet of Things (IoT), and multi-carrier cellular coverage. We hold European leadership positions across all these areas.
We are committed to creating scalable and sustainable buildings. We hold R2S, WiredScore, and SmartScore certifications, enabling us to deploy the infrastructure essential for constructing smart buildings.
Being on the ground and knowing how to innovate
From the design phase through construction, operation, and equipment maintenance, we work with and for our clients to design buildings that are tailored to the challenges of the energy transition. We provide innovative solutions, including tools for assessing and optimizing carbon footprints and monitoring the obsolescence of facilities.
What does our teams consider the key to a project’s success? The relationships we build with our clients and partners, genuine dialogue, and our availability. Our unique local presence and our knowledge of our clients’ industries and sites enable us to respond effectively and flexibly.
“ We are a long-standing leader, and our strengths lie in our technical excellence, our understanding of how our products are used, our close relationship with our customers, and our long-term support. ”
“ We are just as involved in the design as we are in the implementation of electrical engineering services. ”
“ Thanks to our network of offices—which enables us to provide high-quality, day-to-day support to our clients—and thanks to the complementary nature of these offices, we are able to adapt to every client profile and any type or size of project! ”
