The decarbonization of maritime transport or how to reconcile energy sobriety and economic performance?

While maritime transport accounts for about 3% of global CO2 emissions and could account for 17% by 2050*, many projects are being developed to decarbonize this mode of transport. HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) equipment and refrigeration systems are the leading source of energy consumption on land and the second largest at sea after propulsion on board ships.

AXIMA Marine, an entity of the EQUANS group, works for the naval, civil and military industries.     Limit sea veteran speed* (33% of the fleet).
    *Slow steaming : "A 12% reduction in average forward speed leads to a 27% decrease in daily fuel consumption and therefore to lower GHG emissions".

  • Friendly alternative fuel

    Switch to a more environmentally friendly alternative fuel (LNG - Hydrogen).

  • Optimize ships

    Shore connection; Smoke filtration systems ("scrubbers") or water treatment; smart steering; waste heat recovery.

  • Propulsion processes

    Turn to "clean" propulsion processes.
