Attractiveness and Simplicity for the Grand Paris Express Stations
With a focus on enhancing the appeal and minimalist design of train stations, Equans has equipped the Grand Paris Express stations
Equans’ expertise has made it possible, first and foremost, to equip numerous Grand Paris Express stations with electrical systems and HVAC, ensuring optimal comfort while meeting environmental requirements.
Equans France's Expertise at the Service of Users
This type of equipment serves as the foundation for a wide range of user services, which Equans specializes in installing and maintaining:
Smart and sustainable lighting, ticketing systems, restrooms, passenger information, video surveillance, and access control.
The very first of the 68 stations, Orly Airport Station, was successfully commissioned in late March 2024.
Its high-voltage/low-voltage (HV/LV), high-current/low-current (CFo/CFa), and HVAC technical installations were carried out by teams from Bouygues Energies & Services, Ineo, and Axima.
This will also be the case for the future Les Grésillons station, designed to handle 60,000 passengers per day, whose technical systems will be fully installed by employees of Equans France’s subsidiaries, Axima AIR, and Ineo Tertiaire as part of the Design-Build Contract awarded to the NGE/WEBUILD/Equans Consortium for the section of Line 15 connecting the Bécon-les-Bruyères station to the Saint-Denis-Pleyel station.
But also the stations at Le Bourget (RER B), Saint-Maur (RER A), Stade de France (Line 15), Aubervilliers City Hall (Line 15), Fort d’Aubervilliers (Line 15), Villejuif-Gustave Roussy (Lines 14 and 15), and Drancy-Bobigny (Line 15), including Bouygues Energies & Services has completed or will also complete the high- and low-voltage electrical installations, as well as HVAC and plumbing.
For its part, regarding the Villejuif-Gustave Roussy station, Ineo focused on the high- and low-voltage electrical systems.
As a reminder, high-voltage current refers to electrical circuits that transmit large amounts of energy to power trains, as well as certain installations requiring high power.
Low-voltage current, on the other hand, refers to electrical circuits that carry signals or low-power energy, generally for communication, signaling, or control systems.
Installation and Maintenance of Building Management Systems
Equans Digital, alongside Ineo and Axima AEE, installs and maintainsvarious pieces of equipment at Grand Paris Express stations through the operation of a Building Management System (BMS).
Among the facilities involved, Equans’ entities notably installed BMS systems at the IGR Villejuif, Vert de Maisons, Issy (RER and metro), and Fort d’Issy Vanves-Clamart stations.
As for Bouygues Enérgies & Services, the electrical teams installed the BMS at the Saint-Maur Créteil station (L15) and the Le Bourget station (L16 and L17). BMS is a solution that enables the management and optimization of a building’s technical systems.
Specifically, monitoring software, combined with local control units, provides remote control and management of all building equipment, such as electricity (main distribution panel, branch circuits, lighting), energy metering, HVAC (heating and cooling) systems, plumbing, elevators, as well as video surveillance and passenger information systems.
Relevant information is monitored in real time, both locally via an Ethernet network and remotely via a simple Internet connection.
By optimizing the management of systems such as heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and lighting, the BMS can generate up to 30% in energy savings, depending on the settings and the building’s infrastructure.
In addition, these systems help reduce breakdowns and energy leaks, thereby limiting unnecessary consumption, which further enhances the energy efficiency of the systems.
The Orly Airport Station: A Showcase Project Highlighting Equans' Expertise
Among the most iconic projects demonstrating the synergy between Equans France’s business units, the new Orly Airport station on the Grand Paris Express, which will serve Lines 14 and 18, was equipped by Axima for the building systems (HVAC, plumbing, fire safety), and by Bouygues Energies & Services for the electrical installations (high-power high-voltage, low-voltage, and surge-protected networks) by Bouygues Energies & Services, and by Ineo for the complex building electrical systems and power distribution for the station’s various functions.
The combination of this expertise will ensure a safe and comfortable environment, energy-efficient, as well as resilient and capable of ensuring service continuity in the event of an outage…
In addition, there are the installintrusion detection and video surveillance systems, the wiring and programming of the fire safety system mentioned above, as well as the installation of platform edges and associated signaling systems, also carried out by Equans at the station.
