Industrial Electrical Equipment
Industrial Electrical Equipment
Industrial Electrical Substation, a solution conceived and designed by INEO Postes & Centrales for EDF, RTE, and ENEDIS
An substation is a component of the power grid used for both the transmission and distribution of electricity. It raises the voltage for transmission and then steps it down for consumption by users (residential or industrial). Substations are therefore key components in the continuous supply of energy.
Innovating to Ensure Energy Security
The industrialization of electrical substations demonstrates that transmission and distribution systems are vital. The robustness and reliability of this equipment are an absolute priority. To meet the demands of its clients—EDF, RTE, and ENEDIS—INEO P&C has developed industrial electrical substations.
The Industrial Substation (P.E.I.) consists of a set of high-voltage modules installed in a steel building, with the entire assembly forming a “d” substation. The transformer bays and high-voltage rooms have an independent structure and can be attached to or separated from the P.E.I. building.
The Benefits of an Industrialized Electric Substation (P.E.I.)
+ Discreet
+ Discreet
The P.E.I. blends more easily into a suburban environment. From the outside, this enclosed building does not look like a substation. Furthermore, the P.E.I. technology requires one-third as much space as its open-type counterpart, which also makes it easier to integrate into cities;

Metal roofing helps extend the service life of equipment that is not exposed to the elements. The first P.E.I. systems are 30 years old, and our customers rarely contact us for maintenance.

From the design phase—thanks to the INEO P&C teams’ use of off-the-shelf components—to the operational phase, with the implementation of protective measures to cope with adverse weather conditions—such as tornadoes, freezing temperatures, etc. —the total cost of an EPI (including operation and maintenance) is significantly lower than that of a conventional outdoor substation. Furthermore, the technical and architectural choices were designed so that each cell is isolated by enclosures resistant to overpressure caused by short circuits, thereby preventing a “domino effect” in the event of a short circuit.
