Equans and Portalp Win the Contract for the Platform Facades on Line 18 of the Grand Paris Express
Equipping and securing the platforms for the future Line 18
Following Lines 14, 16, and 17 of the Grand Paris Express, the consortium comprising Portalp and Ineo UTS—a subsidiary of Equans France—has just been selected by the Société du Grand Paris to equip and secure the platforms of the future Line 18. The design phase for the project will begin in the coming days, with a phased rollout starting in 2026. This contract represents a budget of 25 million euros for the consortium.
Connecting Orly Airport, the Saclay research hub, the Massy-Palaiseau TGV station, and the Versailles Chantiers station—which offer numerous connections— Line 18 will contribute to the balanced development of an exceptional region, striking a balance between controlled urbanization and the preservation of a unique natural and agricultural environment. With 35 km of automated metro track, including 13 km above ground, Line 18 crosses three departments and will be able to carry between 150,000 and 200,000 passengers each day. Safety is therefore a major concern. To address this, Equans and Portalp will install 1.21 km of platform screens, including 840 meters for the seven stations in the confirmed phase: Orly Airport, Antonypôle, Massy Opéra, Massy Palaiseau, Palaiseau, Orsay-Gif, and CEA Saint-Aubin. On each platform, protective barriers and platform doors will be installed to prevent falls onto the tracks, streamline passenger traffic, and improve operations.
