Forest Fires: French NEMOSYS FIRE Technology Presented to Ministers at the Launch of the 2026 Prevention Campaign
Presented this morning to Laurent Nuñez, Minister of the Interior, and Monique Barbut, Minister of Ecological Transition, Biodiversity, Forests, the Sea, and Fisheries, during the official launch of the campaign to prevent and combat wildfires in the Gard department, the NEMOSYS FIRE early fire detection solution from Exavision, a subsidiary of Equans France, was demonstrated alongside SDIS 30 at the Nîmes-Garons Defense Base.In Babinière, north of Nantes, construction of the new Technical and Operations Center (CETEX), led by SEMITAN on behalf of Nantes Métropole, was completed in late August. Equans France, through its subsidiaries Ineo UTS, Ineo Infracom, and Bouygues Energies & Services – Urban and Road Transport, handled the electrical and technical installations. After hosting an open house in mid-September for the public and employees, the site is now operational and ready to fulfill its mission in support of the Nantes network.
A campaign launch focused on prevention and innovation
Bringing together the key players involved in preventing and fighting wildfires, this event provided an opportunity to showcase the measures deployed to anticipate, detect, and combat the outbreak of fires, at a time when the risk of wildfires is increasing due to climate change. Invited by the Gard Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (SDIS du Gard) to present its innovative solutions, Exavision was able to discuss the challenges of early detection and prevention of forest fires with government representatives, emergency services, and institutional partners in attendance. This participation builds on the ongoing partnership between Exavision and the Gard Fire and Rescue Service (SDIS 30) to make the department a pilot region for early forest fire detection, particularly through the use of artificial intelligence technologies. Led by Lieutenant Colonel Eric Guiboud-Ribaud, project manager at SDIS 30, this initiative marks a new milestone in the integration of advanced technologies for civil safety.
NEMOSYS FIRE: Technology Supporting Emergency Response
To mark this day, Exavision conducted a demonstration of NEMOSYS FIRE, its smart monitoring solution designed for the early detection of wildfires. Developed by Exavision, the solution combines high-performance thermal cameras, artificial intelligence algorithms, and a digital twin of the region to detect the earliest signs of a fire and pinpoint its exact origin. Deployed in the Gard department since 2025, the solution has proven its effectiveness and helps strengthen the region’s monitoring capabilities by enabling SDIS 30 operators to quickly identify fire outbreaks and facilitate operational decision-making. Capable of monitoring up to 120 km² per minute, NEMOSYS FIRE operates 24 hours a day, day and night, and incorporates artificial intelligence mechanisms for verification, helping to reduce false alarms and speed up the classification of events. By providing operators with reliable, geolocated information in real time, the solution helps improve the speed and efficiency of response operations.
