Powerlines will install a new 380-kilovolt overhead power line in Germany
Performance and Renewable Energy
Amprion GmbH, an electricity transmission system operator, has awarded the Powerlines Group—through its subsidiary Powerlines Energy Germany—the contract to install a 380-kV overhead power line on a section of the Ochsenkopf-Attendorn project. The new infrastructure will replace the existing 220 kV line and will contribute significantly to the integration of renewable energy and to increasing the efficiency of the German power grid. Contract value: over 50 million euros.
Increase the network's flexibility and efficiency
The Ochsenkopf-Attendorn project is a section of a new 126-km, 380-kV transmission line being built by Amprion GmbH between Kruckel near Dortmund, in North Rhine-Westphalia, and Dauersberg in Rhineland-Palatinate. The 380-kV line will be installed along the existing route, replacing the current 220-kV infrastructure. The project contributes to the goal of increasing the flexibility and efficiency of the German power grid and integrating the growing share of renewable energy generated over the long term.
Experts from Powerlines Energy Germany will install the new 380-kV line over a 9.3-km-long section, which involves laying approximately 220 km of 380-kV conductors. The contract also includes the installation of 28 towers, including their foundations, and the dismantling of the existing line. The project is scheduled to begin in spring 2022.
“ I would like to congratulate the Powerlines Energy Germany team on this contract, which marks another important milestone for our business in the German energy sector. I am particularly pleased that, through the implementation of this project, we can help ensure the country’s long-term electricity supply. I would also like to thank our client, Amprion GmbH, for once again placing its trust in our services. ”
