Spotlight on the Pedestrian Bridge at the Vannes Multimodal Transit Hub
Since the high-speed rail line arrived in Brittany in 2017, Vannes Station has seen a steady increase in ridership. Now the third-busiest station in Brittany, the increase in passenger traffic has made a complete redesign of access to the neighborhood necessary. The new pedestrian and bicycle bridge helps bridge the gap between the two neighborhoods on either side of the railroad tracks and facilitates traffic flow in the area.
At nightfall, this footbridge is illuminated in a way designed to provide all users—including people with limited mobility—with a safe and pleasant path.
At the heart of the roundabouts, lines of light highlight the structure’s unique architecture, while the bike lanes benefit from discreet, even, and glare-free lighting.
More than a hundred spotlights, triggered by motion sensors, guide pedestrians and cyclists at night.
The teams at Ineo, a division of Equans France specializing in building electrical engineering, installed the entire lighting system for the footbridge, prioritizing LED technology to ensure a system capable of reducing energy costs while providing optimal light quality.
Thanks to this new lighting, residents and travelers can now enjoy a smooth, comfortable, and safe route that encourages active transportation and offers a new way to cross the city every evening.
