SprinkEco protects sprinkler systems from the risk of freezing
Sprinkler systems may be at risk of freezing.
To mitigate this risk, three options were previously available to prevent your sprinkler systems from freezing: venting the system, using glycol, or protecting your building from freezing (through insulation or heating).
The first option requires more control points and oversized water sources. The second entails significant maintenance requirements. And the third entails significant costs for heating and insulating your building.
Faced with these various challenges, Axima Sécurité Incendie has developed a new, innovative alternative to protect your systems from freezing by circulating low-temperature heated water.
In practical terms, how does it work?
Already implemented at several customer sites, with approval from the CNPP or the AHJ, our SprinkECO solution involves circulating water through the portion of the system at risk of freezing, after ensuring it has been heated to a minimum of 5°C.
The water in the sprinkler system is heated via a heat exchanger.
This heat exchanger can be powered by a heating plant (existing or dedicated) or by recovering waste heat (refrigeration unit, heat generated by a manufacturing process, etc.).
The guarantee of a reliable and safe installation
Designing this type of system requires a very detailed preliminary study to ensure proper water flow, the absence of low points, and that the expected temperature is reached at all points.
We draw on the in-house expertise of our specialized team in energy efficiency and environmental sustainability to conduct the necessary studies and calculations.
Stakeholders (CNPP, insurers, AHJ) are systematically consulted to confirm the suitability of the solution for the installation, the selected temperature scenario, its functional validation, and the safety of its operation (thermal and hydraulic) by an independent third party.
Responsibility for thermal and hydraulic performance lies with Axima Sécurité Incendie.
