Beer Processing Facilities
The Goudale Brewery in Arques (62), which has been in operation since 2016, is one of the largest beer production facilities in France.
The Goudale Brewery in Arques: A Model for Investing in Low-Carbon Solutions
Since it began operations, the company has been providing carbon-free refrigeration solutions to industrial customers. In 2018, as part of the brewery’s expansion, our teams implemented an innovative system for capturing and treating CO2 generated during the manufacturing process.
Low-Carbon Industrial Cooling Solutions
In the brewing industry, as in any other sector of the food industry, the energy consumption of refrigeration systems accounts for nearly 50% of a site’s total electricity consumption. Managing this consumption is therefore essential to limit both the environmental impact of the business and the associated costs. To address these challenges, since 2016, [Equans] has been applying its expertise in refrigeration at the Goudale Brewery in Arques and providing low-ammonia-load refrigeration solutions. At this site, the company produces more than 6 megawatts of cooling capacity by generating glycol water at -6°C to meet the needs of the beer manufacturing process.
Recovery and Utilization of Waste CO2
In 2018, Brasserie Goudale called on our teams to design and build an innovative system for recovering and treating CO2 generated during the beer fermentation process. Operational since 2019, this CO2 purification, liquefaction, and vaporization unit processes and vaporizes CO2 for use in the brewing process.
Monitored facilities and a close working relationship with on-site staff
Today, a real challenge is emerging around the management of facility data. It is no longer just a matter of collecting data; it must now be analyzed and leveraged to improve facilities and optimize their energy consumption in line with changes to the site and the process.
But technology is only effective when used by people. At [company name], we place a central emphasis on raising awareness among on-site users and listening to our customers. By identifying the needs of the Goudale Brewery, we were able to work together to implement tailored solutions. Thanks to the installation of more energy-efficient equipment and energy recovery systems, the site’s overall energy consumption has been cut in half.
