Complex Technical Challenges at the Heart of Urban Transformation
The project involves a complete overhaul of the technical equipment essential to the proper operation of the lines:
- Developing sustainable and integrated urban mobility: meeting the growing need for transportation by ensuring the harmonious coexistence of different modes (tram, electric bus, train, cable car, bicycle, walking, etc.) in an urban environment undergoing rapid renewal.
- Ensuring the safety and reliability of critical systems: ensuring the availability and performance of infrastructure (communication systems, traffic signals, street lighting, monitoring) essential to user safety and comfort, even in complex and constrained environments.
- Meet deadlines and manage operational constraints: balancing an ambitious technical project with the need to minimize urban disruptions and deliver the service on time, in accordance with the 2026 commissioning date.
Three areas where Equans France adds value for a high-performance, integrated network
To meet these challenges, Equans France has drawn on the complementary expertise of its three business units:
Bouygues Energies & Services Transport Urbain et Routier took charge of deploying low-voltage systems, including a multi-service network (RMS, RIU), Centralized Technical Management (GTC), a new Passenger Information System (SIV), as well as video surveillance and public address systems. These solutions provide real-time control and monitoring of the infrastructure. To this end, 11 tram stations and 13 BRT stations were equipped with digital systems designed to:
- Streamline communication through the Passenger Information System,
- Enhancing security through video surveillance and intercom systems,
- Monitor and control the entire network using Centralized Technical Management.
Bouygues Energies & Services and Ineo have modernized the street lighting system by renovating 758 light poles and 29 utility cabinets to clearly distinguish between different urban uses, thereby improving comfort and safety while complying with environmental and regulatory standards. Their efforts also include:
- Rerouting and replacing the drinking water and sewer systems to facilitate access and maintenance prior to the tramway’s installation,
- Bury overhead utility lines along the BRT route to protect them from adverse weather conditions,
- Install 230 remotely managed LED lighting poles along a section of the tram route to optimize street lighting by 2025.
Systrans, a subsidiary of Equans France, designed and integrated the Operations Support and Passenger Information System (SAEIV), a comprehensive real-time monitoring and management tool to oversee service operations, track vehicles, and assist drivers and dispatchers. The SAEIV also improves responsiveness to unforeseen events and ensures seamless, continuously updated passenger information.
