This project addresses growing public transportation needs. In 2024, nearly 150 million passengers used the SEMITAN network, which covers 24 municipalities and totaled more than 30.2 million kilometers traveled. To support this growth, CETEX brings together the functions essential to the network’s operation on a single site: a large 12,000 m² maintenance workshop capable of accommodating 16 new-generation tram trains simultaneously, an operations building featuring offices, training areas, and driver rest areas, the network’s emergency control center, as well as a service station dedicated to cleaning and sanding the trains, and a storage facility capable of holding up to 60 new-generation trains overnight.
Sustainable architecture that blends into its surroundings
Beyond its functionality, the site stands out for its sustainable architecture and integration into the landscape. The wood-frame workshop features a green roof around its perimeter and is equipped with 2,200 m² of photovoltaic panels, contributing to the on-site production of renewable energy for self-consumption. This architectural approach reinforces the image of a site that is innovative, environmentally friendly, and a pleasant place to work for SEMITAN employees.
