An energy-efficient facility designed to double production while reducing energy consumption

The LSDH Group (Laiterie de Saint-Denis-de-l’Hôtel) is inaugurating its new “Abeille 2” plant in Mazières-en-Mauges, near Cholet (49), covering 55,000 m² of floor space.
The goal: to double the production capacity of the historic “Abeille 1” site, while focusing on exemplary energy management.

To meet this industrial and environmental challenge, LSDH turned to Axima Réfrigération, its long-standing partner, to design a heating and cooling system with high environmental performance, tailored to the demanding requirements of food liquid processing.

Project Objectives: Industrial Performance, Phase-Out of Fossil Fuels, and Setting an Example in Energy Use

The “Abeille 2” project had several key objectives for the LSDH Group:

Completely eliminate the use of fossil fuels
Drastically reduce water consumption
Ensure full compliance with regulations on the use of refrigerants
Ensure production continuity with a reliable and optimized facility
Create a showcase site, open to the public and representative of the group’s commitment

Axima Refrigeration Solutions: Innovation, Energy Efficiency, and Performance

Axima Réfrigération drew on its expertise to design a custom, high-performance, and environmentally responsible system:

Technologies Used

Natural refrigerant (NH₃ and CO₂), a natural fluid with no environmental impact
Innovative heat pump that reuses the energy produced to generate hot water at 55°C and 85°C
Chilled water tank to smooth out consumption and optimize startup
Adiabatic condensers: very low water consumption, no chemical treatment, no ICPE declaration
Reduction in waste heat for improved energy efficiency
