Inauguration of the MEL Archives: A Model of Simplicity and Energy Efficiency
As the government calls on public, private , and individual stakeholders to commit to a path of moderation, the inauguration of the new archives of the Lille European Metropolis* (MEL), which took place on Friday, March 3, is emblematic of this public institution’s strong ambitions in terms of energy and environmental performance. The 12,000 m² of buildings housing the archives and the printing facility of the MEL as well as the services of Sourcéo are now more efficient and more smart thanks to solutions designed and deployed by Axima, a subsidiary of Equans France. The project also benefited from the expertise of Equans Digital, which the Axima teams relied on to create a comprehensive digital twin of the buildings using BIM.

A digital twin to optimize facilities
As part of the consortium led by Sogea Caroni (Vinci), along with Dehaene Partenaires and Projex, the experts at Axima were responsible for the design and execution of the heating, ventilation-air conditioning, plumbing , and centralized technical management for the MEL archives in Ronchin. Axima is also responsible for the maintenance of this new complex of buildings for 6 years, which allows it to benefit from a comprehensive view of energy performance. That is why it has also made commitments to optimize energy consumption and the carbon footprint of the buildings.
