Equans France and ICAM Sign a Partnership to Train Talent for the Energy and Digital Transitions
On June 18, Equans France and ICAM formalized a national partnership during a signing ceremony on the Grand Paris Sud campus in Lieusaint (77). This agreement marks the joint commitment of a major player in the energy transition and a network of engineering and vocational schools to train the talent of tomorrow throughout the country.
A strategic partnership to foster growth in the energy sector and support the smart city initiative
Equans France continues to expand its network of academic partners with the signing of a national agreement with ICAM. Spanning all ICAM campuses, this three-year partnership aims to strengthen collaboration between the higher education sector and the business world.
It includes, in particular, educational presentations, participation in recruitment fairs and promotional events, opportunities for students to participate in corporate projects as part of career-oriented courses, and preferential access for students to internships, work-study programs, and job openings.
This partnership is part of Equans’ commitment to promoting its business lines to young engineers and involving them in its key challenges: decarbonization, energy efficiency, and digitalization—whether in factories, buildings, or public spaces.
ICAM’s Paris-Sud campus is also located right next to the Equans Lab in Lieusaint, which is dedicated to developing practical solutions and applications for smart cities—projects in which students may be involved as part of their education.
ICAM, an engineering school recognized for the quality of its education and its regional network—with nearly 100 alumni already working at Equans France—has several campuses across France, each with academic autonomy. This national partnership enables the coordination of targeted initiatives tailored to local needs: a recruitment event at each site, a brand awareness event, and an annual “100% Equans” event at one of the campuses. This close connection to the local community fosters a lasting and mutually beneficial relationship between the company and future talent.
Spotlight: ICAM’s Production School—A Model of Inclusion and Excellence
This new partnership builds on an initial agreement signed in 2024 with ICAM’s production school, which trains—based on real-world orders from companies— young people aged 15 to 18—admitted without selection—in technical trades with high employability. These schools rely on an innovative teaching approach based on “learning by doing”: two-thirds of the time is spent in workshops, fulfilling real orders from companies.
The Lieusaint production school, the first of its kind in the Île-de-France region, fully embodies this model. Since its creation in 2021, it has achieved remarkable results: a 75% CAP pass rate and a 100% employment rate. It currently provides training in two in-demand industrial trades: machining and industrial electricity. These skills, rooted in real-world experience, are directly aligned with Equans France’s needs in the areas of industrial performance, technical maintenance, and energy systems.
By joining the ecosystem of partner companies in 2024, Equans France is actively contributing to these young people’s employability, particularly through hands-on training projects.
“ Our hiring needs are substantial: more than 5,000 permanent and work-study positions to fill each year, of which 150 to 200 are for young engineers. But first, young people need to know who we are! Equans is a young company—barely three years old—already a leader in its fields, yet still relatively unknown to the general public. This partnership is a way to introduce our fields to students who are curious, practical, well-educated, and share values aligned with our own. ”
“ I am a strong believer in the vocational school model. Training at-risk youth through the “learning by doing” approach is, to me, a given. It is also a collective responsibility: to offer them an opportunity, a trade, and a future. This partnership brings together purpose, technical skills, and local engagement. ”
“ This partnership with Equans embodies our dual mission: to train committed engineers who are grounded in the realities of the industry, while helping at-risk youth enter promising careers. The trust placed in us by a major player like Equans sends a strong message: it highlights our humanistic approach and the quality of our programs across all our campuses. ”
