Profile: 4 Questions for Barbara BRU
To mark International Women's Day on March 8, we invite you to read a profile of Barbara BRU, MES Project Director at Equans Digital.
What is your career background, and what is your current role at Equans Digital?
I earned a DUT and then a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and Industrial Computing.
After 20 years at a software publisher specializing in supervision and MES systems, I joined the EQUANS Group.
I currently manage the development of the MES (Manufacturing Execution System) business as well as projects that integrate functions such as traceability, digitization, and industrial process performance.
Why did you choose this path, and what are your goals as a result of that choice?
Ever since middle school, I’ve been fascinated by automation and home automation, so I naturally chose a technical track.
I’ve always found it magical and fascinating to understand how an automated industrial system enables the development of production processes without human intervention.
After a few years at Equans Digital, what are your thoughts?
Joining a group like EQUANS Digital has allowed me to participate in and manage innovative projects such as Ynsect:
- Ynsect transforms insects into premium, high-value-added ingredients for animals, fish, plants, and—in the future—humans. EQUANS integrates automation, monitoring, and the MES across the entire plant.
We digitize the manufacturing process and monitor production in real time across the entire value chain.
Furthermore, teamwork is at the heart of my job; the EQUANS Digital MES team is highly adaptable and at the cutting edge of Industry 4.0 technologies. We also share common values such as high standards, motivation, and enthusiasm. Today, I can say that I truly feel fulfilled in my work.
Do you have any advice for women who want to follow the same career path as you?
There are no fields of study reserved for boys, and there are no careers reserved for men. Talent has no gender! So go ahead—be bold! Be bold!
