Equans France is modernizing an agri-food facility in Châteauroux
Axima Réfrigération France, a division of Equans France, carried out a project at an agri-food facility in Châteauroux, with its teams working on the project from September 2024 to January 2026. The project involved the creation of a commercial kitchen and the installation of refrigeration systems. The project, carried out in several phases, aimed to modernize the infrastructure while complying with NATURA 2000 regulations—a European network that protects endangered species and their habitats. This network covers approximately 18% of the land and 6% of the marine areas of the European Union, with numerous sites in France.
The Challenges of Renovating Refrigeration Systems in NATURA 2000 Areas for Axima Réfrigération
The site needed to be upgraded to meet operational needs. The old facilities could no longer ensure optimal operation, both in terms of energy efficiency and workplace comfort.
The NATURA 2000 regulations required quiet and energy-efficient equipment capable of minimizing environmental impact.
At the same time, the growing workforce made it essential to have a more functional kitchen, designed to support an expanding operation.
All of these factors made modernization essential.
Expert technical execution: panels for the food industry, refrigeration, and commercial kitchens
The project was managed by Equans France in phases to ensure seamless coordination among the specialized teams. The first phase involved installing the agri-food panels, ensuring:

The final stage focused on the interior construction of the commercial kitchen, designed to optimize workflow, facilitate daily operations, and support the site’s future growth. This phased approach allowed for a controlled ramp-up until final commissioning.
