CITEDIA: Electric Mobility in Rennes with Equans France
The teams from Bouygues Energies & Services and Ineo, Equans France subsidiaries specializing in electrical engineering, were commissioned to install electric vehicle charging infrastructure in parking lots throughout downtown Rennes. Work began in October 2025, and full project completion is scheduled for the second quarter of 2026 (with the exception of one parking garage, which is scheduled for 2027). Ultimately, more than 300 charging stations will be available across nine public parking garages in the metropolitan area.
Energy Transition in Rennes: Deployment of Charging Stations with Dynamic Energy Management
For this deployment, the teams chose to implement a dynamic and intelligent energy management system in the various parking garages.
In practical terms, this means that the power delivered to the charging stations is automatically adjusted in real time, based on the building’s actual energy consumption and the number of vehicles currently charging.
This innovative approach optimizes the site’s energy efficiency, prevents consumption spikes, and ensures equipment availability for all users.
The parking lots are being equipped in stages to allow residents to continue accessing the city center and parking while the charging stations are being installed.
The teams paid particular attention to the availability of parking spaces, especially during winter festivities, which bring larger crowds to the city center.
