CITEDIA : Electric mobility in Rennes with Equans France
The Bouygues Energies & Services and Ineo teams, Equans France entities specializing in electrical engineering, were asked to deploy Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructures within the parking lots of downtown Rennes. Work began in October 2025, and the project is scheduled for completion in the second quarter of 2026 (with the exception of one parking lot, scheduled for 2027). Eventually, more than 300 charging stations will be available in 9 public parking lots across the metropolis.
Energy transition in Rennes: deployment of charging stations with dynamic energy management
For this deployment, the teams chose to implement dynamic, intelligent energy management in the various parking lots.
In practical terms, this means that the power delivered to the charging stations adjusts automatically and in real time, according to the building's actual consumption and the number of vehicles being charged.
This innovative approach optimizes the site's energy efficiency, avoids consumption peaks and guarantees equipment availability for all users.
The parking lots are equipped successively, so that residents can continue to access the city center and park while the terminals are being installed.
Teams have paid particular attention to the availability of parking lots, especially during the winter festivities, which bring greater crowds into the city center.
This project is a perfect illustration of Equans France's commitment to supporting regional energy transition, by offering innovative and responsible solutions to serve local authorities and their residents.
