A phased rollout of equipment to modernize the bus fleet
In September 2024, a testing and validation phase was conducted to verify that the system was functioning properly. This test made it possible to resolve any potential issues before the equipment was installed on the vehicles. The equipment was rolled out in phases across a total of:
- 151 vehicles included in this modernization.
- 15 buses and coaches equipped with onboard computers.
- 125 coaches equipped with tablets.
- 16 light-duty vehicles equipped with geolocation devices.
This system also includes VoIP* voice communication, enabling instant and clear communication, as well as optimized management of subcontractors within the operations center.
Launch of the NAVINEO SAEIV and opening of a multimodal hub on the new BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) line
Starting in April 2025:
- 73 buses and coaches in the Filibus network began operating with the SAEIV NAVINEO system, alongside the older SAEIV Ineo system, which is still in use on vehicles currently being replaced."
- The remaining 52 were equipped in the following months through December 2025.
- A five-month testing phase was implemented to ensure a smooth rollout, followed by a two-year warranty period.
Among the vehicles involved, 12 new buses have been operating since September 2025 on the new BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) line, accompanied by the opening of a multimodal transit hub*.
Stronger collaboration for a successful technical migration and a smooth onboarding process for drivers
Beyond the technical aspects, the project stands out for:
- A successful migration completed in 12 months, on schedule and incorporating change management support.
- Training sessions were organized to enable each driver to become familiar with the new tools.
The project’s success is based on close collaboration between the SPL (Local Public Company) Chartres Métropole Transports, Systrans, and the CATP (Public Transportation Procurement Center), a key partner in the contract award. Systrans, a division of Equans France, contributed its technological expertise and commitment to support the digital transformation of urban transportation and ensure the project’s success.
*VoIP (Voice over IP) refers to the transmission of voice over an IP (Internet Protocol) network, rather than through traditional telephone networks. It converts voice into digital data packets that travel over operators’ networks via M2M (Machine-to-Machine.
*A multimodal transit hub is a facility that connects multiple modes of transportation to facilitate transfers.
