Rennes Metro Line B: Equans Lays the Final Stone in a Major Urban Construction Project
After six years of work, the two ambitious projects—the public address system and the Centralized Technical Management (GTC) supervision system—led by Equans France on Line B of the Rennes metro have been completed. Through these solutions, which combine safety and energy efficiency, the teams at Ineo UTS are working to improve the city’s sustainable mobility offerings, including on complex routes between suburbs. This work complements the efforts of Ineo Atlantique, another Equans entity, which installed more than 2,000 fire detectors and set up a dedicated IT and telephone network for transportation systems and security across the metro’s 19 stations.
Line B of the Rennes automated metro system now features an innovative safety public address system in its 15 new stations. Drawing on its combined expertise, Ineo UTS, a subsidiary of Equans France, carried out the acoustic studies, construction work, and testing required to commission the entire system, which covers a 13.8-km-long network and includes more than 1,200 pieces of equipment.
At the same time, the Ineo UTS teams completed the deployment of a building management system (BMS) in the three park-and-ride facilities along Line B. Now complete, the work on the third park-and-ride facility led to its commissioning in late April, marking the completion of a major urban construction project.
