WATA is modernizing its transmission network with smart solutions installed by Equans

Residents and visitors to James City County, the City of Williamsburg, York County, and Newport News now have access to a bus network equipped with the latest intelligent transportation systems, including real-time information software and improved service.

Digitizing Public Transportation to Improve Passenger Well-Being and Local Tourism

Selected by the local transit authority, the Williamsburg Area Transit Authority (WATA), in 2022, Equans has just completed the implementation of a real-time operations support and passenger information system (SAEIV) across its fleet. In partnership with ticketing systems developer Masabi and on-demand transportation expert Via, Equans coordinated the installation of the system on 23 fixed-route buses and 7 on-demand transit vehicles, enabling WATA to provide real-time data to its passengers across multiple platforms such as the Transit app and Google.
