Road Safety: Equans France Reaffirms and Strengthens Its Commitment to Safer Roads
On Monday, May 22, at the opening of the Workplace Road Safety Days, Brahim Garda, Director of Health and Safety at Equans France, signed the “7 Commitments +” charter for safer roads alongside Florence Guillaume, Interministerial Delegate for Road Safety. With nearly 35,000 employees in France, traveling 450 million km per year and working in fields where responsiveness and proximity are paramount, the new global leader in the energy and services sector is unveiling a strengthened road safety policy and announcing the launch of a national awareness and training campaign.
As the leading cause of workplace fatalities in France—whether during commutes or business trips—preventing traffic accidents is a top priority. This major issue is the focus of numerous internal initiatives at Equans France. The Group’s golden rules for health and safety—such as abstaining from alcohol and refraining from using a cell phone while driving—are at the heart of its prevention policy and are frequently reinforced. Written and verbal reminders of the rules of conduct when a company vehicle is assigned, the inclusion of rest periods in the calculation of travel times, and the tracking of traffic citations received round out the system at the level of each entity. For example, certain entities with employees who travel long distances reduce work hours on Mondays and Fridays to allow their employees to travel with peace of mind.
