Transportation Infrastructure Performance: A Guide
Analysis by Vincent Duguay, General Manager of Transportation
What do we mean by “transportation infrastructure”?
Transportation infrastructure refers to the facilities and systems that enable the movement of people and goods.
This includes road, port, airport, and rail networks, as well as all forms of urban transportation such as subways, streetcars, and buses.
At Equans, we offer a very broad range of services. Through all our entities, we work on all types of infrastructure, particularly with Bouygues Energies & Services and Axima.
As for the Transportation Division, we bring specialized expertise to rail networks and urban transit.
Are we moving beyond this infrastructure?
Behind the concept of transportation lie, above all, the expectations of passengers. Through brands such as Systrans and Icomera, we develop systems designed to improve the quality of transportation.
This involves operating systems that ensure trains and buses arrive on time, as well as onboard services on trains and trams enabled by data transmission—allowing you to watch videos, send emails… all features that make your commute more productive.
Why is transportation essential to regions?
Both regions and metropolitan areas are responsible for mobility within their territories.
There is a strong demand for carbon-free transportation solutions. These entities will develop transportation initiatives and projects, ranging from very large-scale projects—such as the Grand Paris Express or the high-speed rail line between Bordeaux and Toulouse—to more modest initiatives such as the electrification of bus routes or the installation of charging station networks for electric vehicles.
Regions and metropolitan areas have become key decision-makers in the field of transportation, particularly in France.
How does Equans address these challenges?
Regions, departments, and metropolitan areas have developed their energy transition plans, which we are able to support thanks to Equans’ comprehensive expertise—not only in the field of mobility but also in many other areas.
We’re proud to take real action!
What about you—what's your favorite mode of transportation?
I live in the Paris area, I work in the Paris area, and I’m a pretty impatient person: for my daily commute, I often ride my motorcycle. But for longer trips and because of my job, I’m a big fan of trains, so I take the train very often.
